There is no specific job role calles 'design', but within the context of Architecture it will relate to Design Architects, Part II Assistants and Interior Designers.
Design Architecture is our core business within the discipline and we place designers at all levels each week within Hays Architecture. Recent placements have varied from Partner and Director level Designers through to Part I Graduate Assistants. Good design skills are always in demand by our clients in the private and public sectors, and candidates with a range of sector experience are typically highly placeable.
Use your creativity in design architecture jobs
Architecture design candidates should be able to convey their ideas lucidly and imaginatively to their peers, but more importantly to clients in order to bid for and win new work. Successful designers need to be great communicators, passionate about their work and able to re-imagine sometimes quite traditional briefs in order to deliver creative building solutions.
Employers look for Design Architects who can be client-facing, confident at presentations and pitches, and have a diverse spread of project experience. Candidates should have the technical knowledge to deliver projects to site when necessary, though equally important is a desire to produce interesting design schemes that fit the client’s brief, add excitement where appropriate to the community, and meet financial instructions.
Architectural design jobs - get your qualifications
Candidates should be able to draw up their designs using CAD and 3D presentation software, and we have found that some designers have undergone professional presentation courses. Architectural companies are committed to training part 1 year out assistants, and there has been a greater awareness from companies in recent years to retain these students when they are subsequently part 2 qualified. Within architecture candidates should be part 1, part 2 or fully qualified depending on the level they are operating at.
