Building Services Awards 2008

Hays Building Services was once again pleased to sponsor the Project of the Year category at this year’s Building Services Awards. Highlighting our commitment to the industry, this sponsorship recognises and rewards building services professionals for their hard work and dedication.

Now in its 11th year, the awards are one of the most prestigious events in the industry’s calendar. This year’s glittering award ceremony took place on Monday 23rd June at The Grosvenor Hotel, London. Established by Building Services Journal and Electrical Mechanical Contractor magazines, the awards seek to reward innovation, excellence and professionalism in the building services industry.

Competition is always strong at the Building Services Awards and this year was certainly no different for the Project of the Year Award. The winner on the night was BDP and the judges were particularly impressed by the intelligent and innovative approach that they took to building at Leigh Technology Academy in Dartford. Environmental issues are of key concern to anybody involved in the industry and BDP’s work at the Academy showed admirable dedication to reducing carbon emissions for the future.

Other finalists in the category were:

  • Arup
  • McBains Cooper
  • Mott MacDonald
  • Southern Electric Contracting
  • White Young Green

Mike McNally, director of Hays Building Services, comments: ‘’The Building Services Awards are extremely well respected within the industry, offering the UK’s top firms the opportunity to gain well deserved national recognition for projects. It was a fantastic night and everybody had a great time. I would like to congratulate BDP for their impressive win – they were up against some strong competition and should be very proud of this amazing achievement.’’
