It is key that there are continued courses and apprentices for people to train and develop onsite experience within a trade. There is a whole range of courses at many colleges where people can train and do apprenticeships in trade jobs, like those highlighted above. Contractors also offer apprenticeships as training people within their company offers value and a more loyal workforce.
There are a varied amount of qualifications that trade people can pass. The most popular ones are City & Guilds for carpentry, plastering and bricklaying etc. And there is also the CSCS card, which is the Health and Safety certificate for site.
Salaries dependent on nature of building trade jobs
Salaries for trade professionals generally depend on experience and the nature of the work. On a freelance basis, most clients like to pay on an hourly basis so they can review value for money within the course of the hours worked.
Remuneration varies according to the type of role: skilled labourers, handy persons and painters/decorators are typically paid lower than their counterparts in carpentry, bricklaying, plastering and tiling.
