Teaching in the UK
Overseas Trained Teachers (OTTs) have become a day-to-day feature of schools in the UK, particularly in London and the South East.
Most schools welcome the fresh perspectives OTTs bring to the teaching staff, their professionalism and the opportunity they provide for students to meet someone with a different life experience.
You can now embark on an overseas experience where you can extend and develop your teaching skills, work with supportive and enthusiastic colleagues and soak up all that the UK and the rest of Europe has to offer.
Hays Education has opportunities in Early Years, Special Needs, Primary and Secondary teaching jobs. We offer long-term, short-term, permanent and day-to-day positions. Not only do we match the right teacher to the right school, we also offer generous rates of pay as well as all the support you’ll need.
Wherever you’re from, if you hold a fully recognised teaching qualification and have enthusiasm, flexibility and excellent spoken and written English, there are a range of teaching jobs in the UK available to you.
We will provide information and advice on:
- Your existing qualifications
- How to obtain work permits and visas
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Criminal Records Checks
- Continued Professional Development
- Accommodation
- Bank accounts
Work permits are available, provided you accept a teaching post prior to your departure. We can also offer overseas trained teachers the opportunity to gain QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) with Hays Education working in partnership with the University of Reading.
We also assist teachers with the transition process by assisting with setting up a bank account, finding accommodation and organising social events. In addition, we organise an Induction Day, at the start of each term, for newly arrived teachers to introduce them to our education system.
