About Us
The Defence Support Group (DSG) is a wholly owned UK Government Trading Fund established to support the Armed Forces and deliver wider defence objectives in support of the key Defence Industrial Strategy requirements.
DSG was launched on 1 April 2008 following the merger of ABRO and DARA business units, with the key aim of providing expert in-house maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrade services for the through life support of the air, land and maritime systems of the UK Armed Forces.
Employing approximately 3,500 staff and with the Head Office located in Andover, we provide strategic direction to our main sites in Bovington, Catterick, Colchester, Donnington, Sealand, St Athan, Stafford, Stirling and Warminster. Smaller support sites located in Aldershot, Bicester and Sennybridge further enhance our geographic coverage. Small teams are also permanently embedded in other military locations around the UK as well as supporting operations at home and abroad. DSG has the capability to offer immediate support where it is needed most - at the front line.
Our wide range of capabilities covers maintenance, repair and overhaul & upgrades of key air and land equipment, mobile and in-barracks equipment support, fleet management, calibration, electronics, components and logistic support solutions making us one of the largest defence engineering service providers in the country.
In-house capabilities also include the ability to strip, replace, repair, rebuild and assemble equipments ranging from binoculars and small arms through to large aircraft and armoured fighting vehicles. With an annual turnover in excess of £200 million, work is undertaken from our network of strategically located sites throughout the UK, offering customers comprehensive support wherever they may be.
We work closely with major defence industrial contractors in delivering support solutions in the best interests for Defence. This makes our business uniquely placed to exceed customers’ complex and time critical requirements from a single source.
