Controls and Instrumentation design engineer jobs

C&I Engineering is split into two disciplines: Design and Commission. Controls and Instrumentation Design Engineer jobs are responsible for designing the automated process which guarantee that the automation across the whole site will run smoothly and without fail.

They typically have a specific Engineering degree such as Electrical Engineering and a postgraduate qualification in areas such as Applied Instrumentation and Control research.

C&I Commissioning engineering jobs

C&I Commissioning Engineers jobs cover a number of areas. An ideal candidate is one who has done an Electrical Apprentiship but has progressed into specialist Controls and Instrumentation programming. To do this, you will need to be enrolled on PLC programming courses.

Most specialist PLC manufacturers have their own in-house training courses, manufacturers range from Allan Bradley, Seimens to Mitsubishi. The more sought after candidates must be able to write and program PLC and SCADA systems as this saves that contractor from allocating this task out to sub contractors. This work is normally done in all seasons and in locations.

Salaries for commissioning engineers can vary depending on which markets you work in. As an apprentices you can expect constant training and development and work your way up to a Delivery, Commissioning or Project Manager.
