CILT events
North East CILT
Date: Wednesday 13 February 2008
Venue: Newcastle University
Hays Purchasing & Supply in Newcastle will be attending the ‘Your Career – Your Future’ event run by the North East CILT where they will be helping students with all their recruitment needs from writing the perfect CV, completing application forms to how to shine at an interview and possible career paths.
“Finding a new job can be daunting, as in today’s competitive market you have to stand out from the crowd. We hope these events help arm the students with all the knowledge and skills we have to help them secure their dream job” says David Leadley, consultant for Hays Purchasing & Supply in Newcastle.
CILT Scottish Region - Annual Dinner

Venue: Airth Castle, Stirlingshire
Hays Purchasing & Supply were pleased to attend the Annual Dinner held by the Scottish Region of the CILT.
The drinks reception and dinner were followed by guest speakers, Stewart Stevenson MSP Minister for Transport and Charles Hammond, Chief Executive, Forth Ports Plc.
The evening then took on a lighter tone with entertainment from stand-up comedian Scott Glyn.
‘We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and were proud to attend and support the Scottish Region of the CILT,” said Michelle Graham, Senior Consultant, Hays Purchasing & Supply.
North East Division of the CILT - Careers Event
Date: April 2007
Venue: Northumbria University
Hays Purchasing & Supply was delighted to present to final year Logistics and Transport students. The presentation "Your next career step" covered all aspects of the recruitment process from how to write your CV and covering letter to interview 'do’s' and 'don’ts'.
"It was a pleasure to present to the logistics and transport professionals of the future and to see the talent coming into the profession. The event was a huge success that will be repeated in February next year," affirmed David Leadley of Hays Purchasing & Supply.

CIPS Cardiff Student Evening
Date: Thursday 7 February 2008
Venue: University of Glamorgan Business School, Pontypridd
Rhiannon O'Brien and Gareth Paul of Hays Purchasing & Supply in Cardiff will be attending a student evening at the University of Glamorgan Business School where they will be addressing 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students on the Purchasing & Supply Chain Management course on the current employment market in Wales and the benefits CIPS qualifications can bring to your career.
“It's always good to have a chance to speak to students and show how taking these courses and studying procurement can really help to further their career within the profession,” says Rhiannon O’Brien. Other guest speakers on the night will include two local CIPS representatives and past students from the course.
Celebrating 75 years of CIPS in Birmingham

Joanne Linehan and Simon Nicholas of Hays Purchasing & Supply attended the evening event hosted by Chris Lowe, the Chairman of the Birmingham branch, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of CIPS in Birmingham. The evening consisted of buffet and refreshments and took the form of a focus group discussion looking back at how the organisation has developed from the Purchasing Officers Association in 1932 to the successful and pioneering Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply we know today. The POA started with just sixteen men in 1932, including many from the Birmingham area.
Among the topics under discussion were 'Attracting New Talent to the Profession', 'CIPS Social Events' and 'the Introduction of a 7th level to the CIPS qualifications and the potential of the introduction of a further membership level above MCIPS'.
'It was an enjoyable evening and a pleasure to attend and help CIPS celebrate such an important anniversary and the discussions brought up many interesting points" comments Joanne Linehan, Senior Consultant, Hays Purchasing & Supply, Birmingham.
CIPS course - Blackburn College
Date: Tuesday 25 & Thursday 27 September 2007
Venue: Blackburn College, Blackburn, Lancashire
Hays Purchasing & Supply visitied Blackburn College over a period of two days in September.
Presentations were given to students [both Foundation and Professional Stage] about the state of the marketplace and general careers advice including CV writing.
"We really enjoyed talking to future purchasing and supply leaders and seeing first-hand the benefits of studying towards a professional qualification,” said Elizabeth Horton, Consultant, Hays Purchasing & Supply.
CIPS Career Development event - West Midlands

Leighton Rose, senior consultant Hays Purchasing & Supply (Birmingham), presented to the West Midland branch of CIPS as part of their focus on professional development.
Leighton discussed the trends in the procurement marketplace within the West Midlands, how to approach a recruitment process from recruiter and candidate perspectives and tips on gaining a competitive advantage when lookjng for jobs.
