Housing development jobs
Development is an integral part of Social Housing, with continued emphasis and funding provided from the Government to ensure House Build Programmes are meet.
Two keys areas within Development are: 1) New Business Management including site identification, negotiation and acquisition and 2) Project Management of schemes from scheme feasibility to completion, managing consultants, and contractors, programming plans and budgetary controls, ensuring targets are meet.
Project Management and staff management experience is advantageous, as is prior experience of preparing and analyzing financial data, setting and meeting with budgetary controls. Negotiation is a key facet in any development role, as is the ability to communicate and develop relations with clients, consultants and contractors at various levels.
Experience valued for development project manager jobs
Qualifications vary but a standard requirement is to be qualified to Degree level, within a relevant field including Building, Construction, Planning, ideally combined with Membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing. Knowledge and understanding of Housing Corporation procedures, including the preparation of Housing Corporation bids is a definite advantage.
Experienced Development candidates are in high demand, and as such the salaries on offer can be very attractive especially for Development Project Manager jobs. Social Housing development is rarely affected by adverse economic conditions as house build targets must still be hit.
